From Burnout to Blogging: One Year Later

From Burnout to Blogging: One Year Later

I remember watching a YouTube video about starting a blog. At the end of the video, it said, “Only 1 in 100 people watching this will actually start one.” Right then and there, I decided to be that one person who takes action.

After burning out in my career, I started a blog to share my journey toward finding meaningful, fulfilling work – and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Despite a hectic year of travelling across the country for work, I’m proud to say I stuck to my commitment: a new article published every. Single. Week.

Since then, the blog has opened doors I never imagined. Through my writing, I’ve been invited to speak at Toronto Metropolitan University, the New Brunswick Association of Optometrists, Vogue Optical, and more.

Putting myself out there has taken my career in unexpected and exciting directions, including becoming a speaker – something I never thought I’d do – and I absolutely love it.

None of this was part of an elaborate plan; I just acted on a simple idea: write about my passions.

This year of radical change has taught me that you don’t need many ideas to change your life.

You don't even need a complicated idea.

You just need one.

I hope you remember this the next time you come across an idea that inspires you. Don’t wait for the perfect time or a flawless plan.

Take the leap.

You never know where one bold step might take you.

Ready to be the 1 in 100?
